About Our School
Welcome to Oaks Middle School, National AVID Demonstration School and home of Eagle PRIDE. Oaks’ staff members strongly believe in continuous improvement which includes the academic, social and emotional wellbeing of ALL our students. School-wide AVID and along with AVID’s College Readiness System play key roles in preparing our students for college and career readiness.
Our award winning Eagle Pride Marching Band and Auxiliaries represent our school, district and our surrounding communities as they perform at Disneyland and parades in the Southern California area. Recently, we added our Harmony Choir and two sections of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) – robotic design technology classes for students interested in engineering. Our clubs and after school sports programs keep our students actively connected to our campus. Each Tuesday, during our elective classes, we offer our students the ability to alternate between receiving instruction in Edu-typing or Khan Academy. AVID field trips and guests speakers introduce our students to the real world. In addition, we offer zero-period PE classes so our students can be enrolled in AVID and an additional elective class such as English Language Development (ELD), orchestra, technology, choir, advanced marching band or drill team. As an educational alternative, our site offers a Virtual Learning Academy.
Our professional development is ongoing with three main areas of focus: supporting AVID school-wide, succeeding in Common Core proficiency and strengthening our best practices for our English Learners (EL) and low socioeconomic students. Our grade level content teacher/experts have proven to be our number one professional developers.
