School Description and Mission Statement (School Year 2019—20)
The primary vision for Santa Rosa Academic Academy is to provide academic excellence in a safe and nurturing environment in order to develop productive citizens that contribute to their community. This vision is embedded in the instruction and teaching strategies implemented and monitored school-wide.
Our mission is to prepare all students at Santa Rosa Academic Academy to face the rigor of middle school, high school, and beyond through effective, standards-based instruction that ensures every child will reach his/her academic, social, emotional and physical potential. We take our responsibility of educating every child very seriously and design programs with the children in mind. The foundation that is laid through our dedication to teaching the standards at every grade level, paves the way for students to master the skills necessary for future generations. Starting at the earliest grades, we have established intervention programs with the goal of eliminating achievement gaps. Through targeted assistance at every grade-level in our multi-tiered system of supports, we are able to identify weak areas and provide support almost immediately. We ensure that all sub-groups are provided with the highest educational experience possible, while addressing their social and emotional needs as well. With support from families, community, volunteers, and staff, we strive to achieve excellence.
Through the development of strong relationships, the implementation of active participation strategies, the utilization of high-quality academic vocabulary, the effective use of data to drive instruction, the diligent use of research-based effective teaching strategies, and the application of differentiation, our goal is always that…
ALL students master grade-level standards and are reading at or above grade-level.
ALL students have social and emotional support for their diverse needs, while they and their families feel part of a safe and nurturing school community.
Learning continues after school in our ASES (After School Education and Safety) program run by Champions. Santa Rosa Academic Academy works closely with Champions to connect with community partners such as One Cool Earth, 4-H, the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo, and other organizations to enrich student’s after school experience through activities that combine fun and learning right on Santa Rosa Academic Academy’s campus. From art, dramatic play, math and science to problem-solving, language, and motor skills development, our partnership with Champions ASES program allows learning to continue even after students are dismissed.
