School Description and Mission Statement (School Year 2016-17)
Alexander Hamilton Middle School offers a comprehensive academic program, and serves students and families throughout the North Long Beach community. Hamilton is noted for its rich diversity of students, staff, and community. Our school mission, "to guide every student in the journey toward academic excellence, personal success, and responsible citizenship, " drives our daily work with all of our students. Our vision is the creation of "a civil community of self-empowered learners inspired to succeed in all aspects of life". In addition,we are determined to increase student achievement in all academic areas by maintaining high expectations and consistent support.
Teaching excellence is crucial to maintaining our strong viable school community and is necessary to effectively meet the individual needs of each of our students. Teachers, administrators, and staff are provided with numerous opportunities to extend, refine, and enrich their professional development.
At Hamilton, we strive to create a safe, cooperative, supportive, friendly, and focused learning culture where students work and achieve together. Our students are inquisitive, multi-talented, energetic, and capable of numerous successes. It is our goal to empower our students to take charge of their learning and be well prepared to succeed as they enter high school. All of our students are proud to be a Hamilton "Wolverine."
To compliment our core academic courses, Hamilton students are provided elective opportunities including robotics, art, student leadership, forensics, Long Beach Scholars,instrumental music and vocal music.
