School Description and Mission Statement (School Year 2019—20)
At Minnie Gant Elementary School, our vision is to engage each child in a rigorous, creative academic environment that emphasizes character building while employing high expectations, a standards-based curriculum, and a commitment to technology to ensure that all students become caring, productive members of society.
Gant Elementary brings together students, parents, staff, and community to create an atmosphere where everyone benefits! We have an active PTA with more than 800 members. The PTA provides support for many school programs including technology, the arts, and after-school enrichment.
Gant students come to school ready to learn! High expectations are set by parents and staff to ensure a positive learning environment. Technology is integrated into every classroom. Each classroom has its own chromebook cart and technology is embedded throughout the day.
We utilize our community of parents, staff, and community members through many collaborative committees. These committees inform many of the decisions made to positively affect our educational program.
Our parents demonstrate their commitment to education through the support of their students. Our parents ensure each student arrives on time and ready to learn each and every day while our teachers encourage positive attendance through motivating and engaging lessons daily. Parents of students, who are absent, receive notification through daily telephone calls from our automated system. We, as a school, provide many methods of communication to keep all of our parents informed. Whether it be our use of our automated telephone system, our website, or our Parent Vue system we work to ensure all parents are kept inform of all elements of our educational program.
At Gant, SUCCESS is our primary focus! As you visit classrooms you will observe students engaged in critical thinking and analytical problem solving skills throughout the day. Gant students truly enjoy reading and we encourage them to do so as much as possible. We are the proud recipients of many awards recognizing the efforts of our staff and achievement of our students. You may have seen our license plate holders that say: “GANT READERS...TOMORROW’S LEADERS.”
At Minnie Gant, we believe in providing a well balanced education that includes exposure to ensure our students have the opportunity to have fun, learn, and become successful, productive members of society.
