School Description and Mission Statement (School Year 2019—20)
David Starr Jordan High School serves students in grades 9 through 12 with an approximate enrollment of 2,400 students. Jordan is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). As a result of the WASC self-study process that included our student body, parents, and staff, Jordan’s expected learning results (graduation outcomes) were updated. Students are expected to meet four graduation outcomes. A Jordan student should be a (1) lifelong learner (2) critical thinker and problem solver, (3) proficient communicator, and (4)responsible member of society.
Jordan students have excellent choices available to them as they prepare for college or careers. Jordan offers five specialized pathways for students on campus.
-ACE (Architecture, Construction and Engineering Academy)
-AIMS ( Aspirations in Medical Sciences)
-IB (International Baccalaureate)
-JMAC (Jordan Media and Communication)
-LEAPS(Law, Emergency and Public Services)
Each program offers rigorous academic classes partnered with specialized industry-aligned electives that provide students with industry knowledge, standards, and experiences. Students are engaged in Linked Learning experiences with teachers who support and mentor students.
All Jordan High School students have full access to college preparatory classes including AP (Advanced Placement), Honors and accelerated courses. They also have access to technology including 11 computer labs, and over 65 teachers have Chromebook Carts available in their rooms.
Targeted support and intervention programs are in place to ensure that all students have ample opportunity to access the curriculum, earn credits, and stay on track in meeting A-G and High School Graduation Requirements.
Jordan also has an extensive list of extra-curricular activities on campus including ASB, Yearbook, Link Crew, Band, Piano, Guitar, Choir, Drama/Theater, 40+ campus clubs, and 20+ competitive sports programs.
Jordan seeks to prepare students for life after high school. Graduating students who have the skills and knowledge to succeed is our primary goal. The staff prides itself on the success of all of its students.
